Get away to the perfect Vermont
vacation rental, escape to the country and the Rye Chalet in
Wells, Vermont.
Olie and Jinny Rye built the chalet in 1968
when Olie retired from International Paper Company. It was
designed by Jinny, who took full advantage of the gorgeous
southerly view over Hidden Valley's miles of hills, fields
and streams into the next state.
Artisan stonemason Simon Shultz created magnificent
two-story stone columns to support the huge wrap-around deck
and, at the heart of the chalet, a spectacular three-story
stone core with two fireplaces. A charming custom spiral
staircase connects all three floors.
Olie and Jinny loved sitting on the deck and watching the
sunset. If Olie was out walking in the woods or pitching
with his 9-iron, Jinny rang the big train bell to summon him
for meals. You can use the bell to call your friends and
family.
Vermont's famous fresh country air comes from 20 acres of
tranquil woodlands surrounding this spacious, comfortable,
cheery country rental house. Lake St. Catherine is just five
minutes away.
The beautifully decorated and completely furnished house,
with 3600 square feet of living space, offers several gathering areas -- two separate living rooms,
a large game table area, a dining area and a sociable
kitchen and counter. (See our photo
gallery.) It is marvelous for retreats, reunions,
family gatherings, writers, artists and other contemplative
endeavors. Because it has one bedroom and full bath on each
of the three floors, it is great for three couples, one per
floor.
Because you’ll be on vacation, there are games galore,
hundreds of well-chosen books and over 200 movies on video.
Guided hiking, hunting and/or fishing tours can be arranged
for an additional fee -- for all levels from child to
expert.
For the Vermont vacation rental of your dreams, welcome to
the country and to the Rye Chalet. We know your time here
will be everything you want it to be.
